About FilCan
Homecare Services
When people start to look for care at home for a loved one or for themselves they need clear and direct communications and a system which makes starting up a care package as simple and as straightforward as possible. People also need flexibility and choice, and they often need help as quickly as possible. This is the approach we’ve taken at FilCan and it has proved to be a fundamental part of our success. People are at the heart of any successful business, we wanted to be the organization that values the extraordinary work of all its staff.
The way we deliver care is critically important, and this is a very people oriented business. All staff need to bring a winning combination of the right character and attitude. We train, monitor and supervise our staff closely and effectively. What is important to me is that we will only deliver the level of care that we would expect for our own friends and relatives. That’s the standard we set for ourselves and deliver to our customers.
Putting the Heart Into Caring
All of our services are designed to be flexible, proactive, and effective for everyone who needs help, encouraging Service users to attain and maintain independence, in the comfort of their own home. With this in mind, we work very hard to give all of our services a personal touch.
That is why we offer a wide range of services, that are designed to be flexible, and are individually tailored to meet the needs of our service users.
This includes:
- Affordable solutions for individuals and couples who prefer to retain their independence.
- Comprehensive high quality care support services including our emergency on call around the clock service available to every client 365 days a year.
- As well as providing the highest levels of efficiency in delivering care services, we have been able to add a personal touch by recruiting a diverse range of specially trained caregivers, who are closely matched to client needs. Our diverse mix of carers has proved an invaluable resource in helping overcome cultural and language barriers.

FilCan Homecare Workers
Filcan Homecare Workers provide care in people’s own homes, and may include help with washing, dressing, and preparing meals. Care may be delivered for a short period of time following a stay in hospital (eg, reablement) , respite, or long term, for ongoing support needs.
We, at FILCAN deliver good-quality care and these include the following:
- Person-centered care – caring for all the person’s needs together in a holistic, integrated way. This may include communicating with others who are providing support and care for the person to ensure that care is joined up.
- Valuing and involving people, as well as their carers and family members – ensuring that people are able to express their preferences, views, and feelings. This may include ensuring that people have choices and that their views about how to make improvements are sought, listened to, and acted on.
- Continuity of care – ensuring that care is consistent and reliable. This may include ensuring that people have a properly reviewed care plan, that care workers are known to the person and limited to a small number of people visiting, providing reliable and flexible visit times, planning for missed or late visits, and ensuring that people are able to contact services between appointments.
- Personal manner of staff – a caring and compassionate approach to care. This may include effective communication, getting to know the person, and building relationships to ensure that care happens the way the person likes it.
- Development and skills of staff – ensuring that staff is equipped with the training, supervision, and experience to do their jobs effectively. This may include regular meetings for staff, personal development, and training on particular conditions such as dementia.
- Good information about services and choices – ensuring that people know where to get advice and understand their choices about local care options, including quality and financial advice.
- Focus on wellbeing, prevention, promoting independence and connection to communities – to be able to stay in their own homes and be supported to do things themselves. This may include linking people to be able to contribute to their local communities and social groups.
